Mid-Season Rugby Update & Progress
Stillorgan-Rathfarnham RFC Mid-Season Rugby Update: Progress On and Off the Field
As we reach the mid-point of the rugby season, we want to share an important rugby update on how Stillorgan-Rathfarnham RFC is progressing both on and off the field.
On the Field: Growth in All Age Groups
Senior Rugby
Our senior men’s teams continue to train twice a week, demonstrating dedication and commitment to the game. We are pleased to announce the addition of a dedicated physiotherapist to support player recovery and ensure optimal performance on match days.
Youth and Mini Rugby Development
Our minis and youth rugby programs continue to grow, offering opportunities for children as young as three years old to engage in the sport. Since September, we have had a dedicated Leinster Club Community Regional Officer (CCRO) working with local schools to expand rugby participation.
We are currently fielding teams up to the U15 level, and preparations are underway to introduce a U16 team next season. Training and matches take place every Thursday and Sunday until mid-May when the season concludes.
Girls Rugby Expansion
We are committed to promoting girls’ rugby with dedicated girls-only training sessions and participation in girls-only rugby blitz tournaments. Our goal is to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment for female players of all ages.
Off the Field: Exciting Rugby Club Developments
Clubhouse Construction Rugby Update
The club executive has approved the commencement of our much-anticipated clubhouse construction project. To minimise the loan requirement, we have set a fundraising target and are working within a strict budget. Phase 1 of the project is set to include:
- A 400sqm, two-story building as per planning permission
- Fully equipped changing rooms and showers on the ground floor
- A multi-purpose hall/event space on the upper level (budget and construction costs will determine additional features for Phase 1)
Heavey Technology Park & Pitch Maintenance
The pitches at Heavey Technology Park remain in excellent condition, thanks to the efforts of our dedicated former players who volunteer their time for maintenance.
Due to the high standard of our facilities, we have successfully rented our pitches to local sports clubs, increasing exposure and engagement within the community. This season, we are proud to host:
These collaborations bring more visitors to our home grounds, raising the profile of Stillorgan-Rathfarnham RFC and fostering community engagement.
