Girls Rugby: Now Recruiting New Players for Season 2024/25
The demand for girls rugby has never been higher. New friends, new skills and opportunity to be active is attracting more and more girls to the rugby pitch.

Stillorgan-Rathfarnham RFC has recently introduced a Girls Rugby section to the club, as a result of increasing demand for girls rugby in the Rathfarnham area. We recently held a very successful girls open day in conjunction with Scoil Naomh Padraig, Ballyroan (4th, 5th and 6th class), which demonstrated the high demand that exists for girls rugby in Rathfarnham. We invite your daughter to come along to our club this season – training starts on Sunday 27 August!

About Girls Rugby: Offered for Under 8s and Under 10s Levels This Season
SRRFC’s Junior Rugby section is one of the largest in Ireland, with over 200 children involved each week of the season. We operate our Girls-Only rugby as an off-shoot of our Mini Rugby Section.
Please Note:
- This season we are offering Girls-Only Rugby at Under 8s and Under 10s age grades only.
- These teams will only be composed of girls, and will play matches against other girls teams.
- Girls outside of Under 8s and Under 10s level are welcome to join our Mini Rugby teams – these operate as mixed gender teams.
We do not ‘stream’ our teams, so every child is placed with their age group, regardless of experience or prior experience. The emphasis of Girls-Only Rugby at Stillorgan-Rathfarnham RFC is on learning rugby in a friendly, fun and encouraging environment. We want every child to arrive with a smile on their face, and leave with a smile on their face! Our Rugby Programmes offer children an opportunity to learn sport and make new friends, and we’d love you and your child to join us this season.
Key Information:
- Girls-Only Rugby starts on Sunday 27 August, and runs weekly. Your child can start on 27 August, or if that date doesn’t suit please come along on a Sunday in September.
- You can try out Girls-Only Rugby for a few weeks before making a commitment to join.
- In terms of clothing, we ask that your child can wear football / rugby boots, bring a gumshield and wear sports clothes. A hat is desirable (if it is cold) we ask that children bring a drink also.
