Mini Rugby 2024/25 – New Players Welcome!

Stillorgan-Rathfarnham RFC Minis is one of the largest Minis sections in Dublin, and we invite new girls and boys aged 5-12 years to join us for the 2024/25 season. No prior experience is required and maximum fun guaranteed!

New players are always welcome to come along and try out a session or two.

We are based in Heavey Technology Park (Rathfarnham), and our teams train / play matches on Sunday mornings throughout the season (some teams also have a second training session midweek too).

Girls and boys aged 5-12 years can join our Minis section. 

Our ethos is to ensure every player, regardless of experience, gets the opportunity to be active, have fun and learn the skills to play rugby in a safe environment.

SRRFC is a growing, welcoming, family friendly club with a great atmosphere. There are lots of opportunities for parents to meet other parents or to get involved (if you wish).

Coach to player ratios allow new players to benefit from one-to-one coaching on the basic skills and allows new participants to become integrated into their team quickly. All our coaches are Garda vetted. Participant numbers also allow players to consistently train with the same teammates which fosters camaraderie both on and off the pitch.

Regular mini rugby blitzes are organised by the IRFU Leinster branch helps to add a competitive edge to our sessions.

  • Little Ruckers – Ages 3 and 4 Years – Sundays 09.00-09.45hrs at Heavey Technology Park
  • U6 (Born in 2018) – Sundays 09.00-10.00hrs at Heavey Technology Park
  • U7 (Born in 2017) – Sundays 09.00-10.00hrs at Heavey Technology Park
  • U8 (Born in 2016) – Sundays 09.00-10.00hrs at Heavey Technology Park
  • U9 (Born in 2015) – Sundays 09.00-10.00hrs AND Thursdays 19.00-20.00hrs at Heavey Technology Park
  • U10 (Born in 2014) – Sundays 10.30-11.30 AND Thursdays 19.00-20.00hrs at Heavey Technology Park
  • U11 (Born in 2013) – Sundays 10.30-11.30 AND Thursdays 19.00-20.00hrs at Heavey Technology Park
  • U12 (Born in 2012) – Sundays 10.30-11.30 AND Thursdays 19.00-20.00hrs at Heavey Technology Park

The season will start on Sunday, 27 August 2023. New players are always welcome throughout the season and no experience is required at any age grade.

The only compulsory item is a gum shield. After that, players can wear anything that they are comfortable playing in. We recommend a tracksuit/shorts and runners. Football boots are preferably especially when the ground is wet. Bring a water bottle for the session too.

The season generally runs from August to April/May, with breaks for school holidays.

We offer the opportunity for new players to try rugby with no obligation. Fees are payable on registration and are for the full season.
